About Us

Minou Fou (french for crazy kitty) is the result of a collaboration between two sisters. Both have Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees. Lisa works in two dimensional design(printmaking, collage and photography) and Shaunna works in three dimensional design. We have come together to create clever, witty, beautiful jewelry, apparel and greeting cards that will make you smile.

Minou Fou all started because Lisa was inspired by the idea of rebus puzzles. She was thinking about the old game show Classic Concentration that came out in the early 1960’s. On this show, contestants answered questions in order to uncover pieces of a rebus puzzle and then solve it. A rebus is a puzzle composed of pictures, letters and words to illustrate a person, place thing or phrase. Rebuses have been around for centuries. The thought occurred to her that rebus puzzles could be put into the form of jewelry (i.e. charms). People could wear or give these little puzzles as secret messages. So she and Shaunna set out to create some combinations of their own. The messages are sweet, loving, funny, irreverent, cheeky and even a little passive aggressive depending on one’s mood. Wouldn’t it be so much fun to wear jewelry that had a message: describing you, your feelings, intended for someone you love, or didn’t like very much at all? Your charms would give you validation and help you find your way! The possibilities of combinations of charms and letters are endless, hence the name Intercharmables. It is all about having fun and putting a smile on people’s faces.

Shaunna is a jewelry designer and makes many components of the Intercharmable Jewelry. Additionally, she has her own jewlery line, SK GaNun. Shaunna has been passionate about jewelry, textile and ceramic design for as long as she can remember. While growing up in suburban Massachusetts, she was surrounded by a creative family, nature and the ever changing seasons of New England, all of which inspired her work.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics and Jewelry, she decided to move to Hawaii. Shaunna has always been fasinated by the tiny things in life. Her jewelry is delicate and femine. Her goal is to evoke feelings and personal expression indicative of the beauty of Hawaii. She creates one-of-a-kind pieces from semi-precious gem stones, authentic sea glass that she finds, shells, 14 kt gold, 14 kt gold filled, and sterling silver. >.
